How to Raise a Reader

Our kids need to become strong readers by 3rd grade or risk not being able to becoming proficient readers.

Parents and caregivers are invited to join Miss Sarah for a presentation on November 2 at 6:30 PM about what to expect as your child is learning to read. She will focus on what happens between kindergarten to 3rd grade, but will also address how preschools can prepare kids to read and what later grades can do expand skills. Sarah will talk about the science of reading, what activities and instruction help our kids become confident readers, and warning signs which may indicate your child needs more or different instruction.

You may know Sarah as a children’s programing assistant, circulation clerk, or as an artist, but Sarah is also a dyslexia tutor at Laughlin Children’s Center, IMSLEC certified through the Children’s Dyslexia Center of Western PA with additional intermediate level training through IMSE.
